SFGate reports the top cities for hiring across the U.S. They are:

6. Boston-Cambridge-Quincy

Gallup Poll...

“Gallup Editor-in-Chief Frank Newport reveals that white, black, young, and old Americans all agree that the economy and jobs are the top two problems facing the United States today.” and    
An Emory University professor is more upbeat.

"Despite the poor job-creation numbers and rise in unemployment, the American economy is actually growing. Goizueta Business School at Emory University Labor and Finance expert Tom Smith says you need to look at the overall trends rather than month-to-month."   (See Video)

In other news, although no specific number of jobs has been announced, Fifth Third Bank is looking to expand in Atlanta and Nashville and in the states of Florida and North Carolina.

Halliburton plans to add 15,000 additional employees by the end of 2011. 

Siemens AG plans to hire more than 3,000 new employees in the United States by the end of 2011. About 600 of them will be in the sales or marketing and communications departments, according to the Munich-based engineering company.

Kabam plans to hire 100 gaming staff.

Alteryx, a business software firm, is looking to hire over 70 employees.

Peel Technologies is looking for 22 mobile engineers

VideoSurf is seeking 25 new employees.


Real estate firms in Baltimore anticipate hiring.


Fiksu plans to hire around 40 personnel in sales and marketing along with developers and engineers.

New Mexico

Nova Corp will be adding between 20 and 40 people in Mesa del Sol.

New York

A startup, Jibe, will be adding an additional 15 employees. 

North Carolina

Some good news for North Carolina… Daimler Trucks is planning to hire around 700 additional workers.


Alert Logic is seeking 50 cloud security engineers.


ITT will be bringing around 2,700 jobs to its Salt Lake facility over the next few years.


Seattle startup, Lockerz, is in the market for 50 developers.
