Happy Halloween!
It's a term that is appropriate for Halloween - "slasher." But, we are not referring to horror movies. No, this is a term that is now applied to freelancers.According to MSNBC, "slasher" careers are on the rise. Given that the unemployment rate is stuck around 8 percent, this could very well be a response from enterprising and talented Americans who need to earn a living. MSBNC reports:
"In an increasingly virtual work world, an estimated one-third of U.S. workers — more than 42 million men and women — no longer report to traditional 9-to-5 jobs. .. This freelance nation fills the gaps that corporate America no longer wishes to cover with full-time salaried employees."Are slasher careers here to stay? It wouldn't be surprising as these workers discover that they control their own destinies, assignments, and work / life balance.
